About the role

We’re hiring a Robotics Testing Engineer to be the ultimate gatekeeper for our hardware and system reliability. You will bridge the gap between engineering and field operations, ensuring that our autonomous systems are robust, connected, and fully validated before they hit the greenhouse. You’ll be hands-on with the robots, building the rigs to test them, taking them into the field, and holding the team accountable for fixing what breaks.

What you’ll do

Validate hardware readiness and reliability

You’ll run rigorous hardware validations and stress tests on our robots. Before any system is deployed, you will ensure it is built exactly to spec and can withstand the physical demands of a real-world agricultural environment.

Configure and validate critical communication systems

You’ll be responsible for the robot's lifeline. You will ensure that all networking, telemetry, and communication protocols are properly set up, secure, and stress-tested for uninterrupted robot-to-cloud connectivity.

Design custom tests and troubleshooting rigs

You’ll build the infrastructure we need to test faster. You will design physical testing rigs and structured test protocols that allow our team to rapidly recognize, isolate, and replicate hardware and system-level problems.

Execute on-field testing and collect critical data

You’ll take our robotics stack out of the lab and into the wild. You will lead on-site field testing, monitor system performance in live greenhouses, and collect the operational data required to validate our autonomy stack.

Troubleshoot and debug edge cases in the field

When things break down during deployment, you are the boots on the ground. You will diagnose and debug mechanical, electrical, and software integration issues on the spot to get the robots back online.

Drive issue resolution and cross-functional accountability

You’ll ensure nothing falls through the cracks. When you identify a hardware failure or software bug, you will log it, assign it to the responsible engineering owner, and relentlessly follow up to ensure the fix is completed, tested, and pushed to the fleet.

Who you are

Core requirements

  • Hardware & Robotics Experience: Hands-on experience assembling, testing, and debugging physical robots or complex electromechanical systems.
  • ROS2 Proficiency: Solid operational understanding of ROS2 and how to interact with it for debugging and testing purposes.
  • Networking Knowledge: Strong grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi) and communication protocols used in IoT/Robotics.
  • Systems Debugging Mindset: You naturally break down complex problems to isolate whether a failure is mechanical, electrical, or software-based.
  • Project Management Skills: Experience tracking bugs and driving cross-functional teams to resolve issues (e.g., Jira, Linear).
  • Hands-on Mentality: You aren't afraid to get your hands dirty in the lab or step into a humid greenhouse to test your assumptions.

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience in agricultural robotics, harsh-environment deployments, or industrial automation.
  • Familiarity with building physical test rigs (basic CAD, 3D printing, or fabrication).
  • Scripting skills (Python, Bash) to automate repetitive testing or data collection tasks.
  • Background working closely with both software engineering and hardware manufacturing teams.
  • A valid driving license (useful for travel to greenhouse sites and field testing facilities).
